The Costa Smeralda lies in the Gallura area, on the north-east coast of Sardinia, and it is one of the island’s main tourist destinations.
The area is easily accessible from the main towns and cities in Italy and beyond, thanks to the Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport and the seaports of Olbia - Isola Bianca and Palau. It can be reached from elsewhere in Sardinia via Olbia along the SS 125 road which leads to Palau.
The coast offers a rich array of splendid beaches and little coves, while the characteristic feature of the inland area are the granite mountains covered with maquis (lentisk, juniper, oleaster, etc.).
The area’s main tourist resort is Porto Cervo, which hosts the headquarters of the Costa Smeralda Consortium, as well as the most important, presigious sports and cultural events in the area.
